The typical production process of Steel Shots is as follows:

  1. Smelting and atomization: Raw materials such as scrap steel are melted, then atomized by high-pressure water or air to form spherical steel particles. At this stage, the particle sizes of the steel shots are "continuously distributed", ranging from very small to relatively large, presenting a mixed state.
  2. Heat treatment: Quenching (to increase hardness) and tempering (to relieve stress).
  3. Screening and classification: Heat-treated steel shots are screened using screens with different mesh sizes. Through multi-layer screens (coarse screens and fine screens), steel shots with different particle size ranges are separated, corresponding to different types. For example, steel shots separated by screens with a particle size range of 0.3-0.5mm correspond to a specific type.

In short, in steel shot production, "single smelting and atomization" results in steel shots with mixed particle sizes. Various types are then separated through the screening process, rather than directly obtaining a single type in one production run. This "first mixing then classifying" mode is determined by the characteristics of the atomization process (the inability to precisely control the particle size of each steel shot to be completely uniform).
