China's steel grit and steel shot industry will lead the global green smart manufacturing transformation by 2025
China's Steel Grit and steel shot industry will enter a new stage of high-quality development in 2025. According to the latest statistics from the China Abrasives Association, the domestic output of steel grit and steel shot exceeded 1.2 million tons from January to August this year, a year-on-year increase of 9.5%, and the export volume accounted for 55% of the global share.

Green transformation has achieved remarkable results
With the deepening of the "dual carbon" goal, the new version of the "Green Abrasive Evaluation Standard" was officially implemented in 2025. Currently, 23 steel sand and steel shot enterprises across the country have obtained national-level green factory certifications, and the industry's average carbon emissions have decreased by 42% compared to 2020. The production base in Hebei Province has built the world's first steel sand recycling industrial park, with an annual capacity to process 100,000 tons of waste abrasives.
The application scope continues to expand.
Apart from the traditional automotive and shipbuilding industries, the application of steel chips and steel balls in the new energy sector has witnessed a rapid growth this year:
1.The demand for surface treatment of photovoltaic brackets has increased by 35%.
2.Special steel shot orders for strengthening wind turbine blades have doubled.
3.The market for battery housing cleaning equipment is expanding.
Customs data show that China's steel grit and steel shot exports reached US$860 million in the first half of 2025, of which high-tech products accounted for more than 40% for the first time. Experts pointed out that with the acceleration of infrastructure construction in countries along the "Belt and Road", China's steel grit and steel shot industry will usher in a new round of development opportunities.
